About AGMC
The AGMC has grown to be a prominent part of the music scene in
Albany, NY, as well as the surrounding Capital Region. In 2017, we became a nonprofit organization. The AGMC frequently supports local LGBTQ and LGBTQ-friendly organizations such as the Pride Center of the Capital Region, Damien Center, the Capital Area Council of Churches and the Gay Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN). The Chorus performs a variety of music, including but not limited to, pop, musical theater, classical, standards, and jazz. We have collaborated with the Capital Pride Singers, St. Andrew’s Choir, the College of St. Rose Women’s Chorale and Albany Pro Musica. The AGMC takes an active role in networking with gay-affirming churches of the Capital Region, which have given the Chorus opportunities to sing in several venues. We perform two concerts a year, and a donation is made to a charitable organization(s) from the proceeds of each concert.
AGMC Mission
The Albany Gay Men’s Chorus seeks to entertain and enlighten by creating high-quality vocal music in the rich and time-honored tradition of male choral singing. The Chorus strives to promote pride in and acceptance of the LGBTQ community and endeavors to build bridges by making positive contributions to the greater Capital Region.
